How does the Emplato app work?

After registering, you will find the self-scan option to borrow our reusable Emplatos free of charge for 14 days from participating partners. You scan the QR code on the Emplato container yourself and show the confirmation to the caterers. When you return it, only the QR code on the container is scanned to check it back out to you.

What does the Emplato system cost?

The Emplato system is completely free of charge for customers. We are financed by the caterers who pay a small fee per filling of our Emplatos. Nevertheless, they save money because the cost of disposable packaging is usually higher than our filling fee. In addition, if an Emplato is not returned to our partners within the 14-day return period, customers are automatically charged 10 euros per bowl and 4 euros per cup.

Why do I have to enter a means of payment?

The means of payment serve as security, since we issue the Emplatos without a deposit.

How can I borrow an Emplato?

In the Emplato app you will see our partners in your area. Choose the restaurant and go to pick up your order. When you place your order, you will scan the QR code on the Emplato itself.

Is it possible to buy your containers?

In principle, our Emplatos are not available for purchase via our app, as our system is only sustainable if the Emplatos end up back in circulation as quickly as possible. However, if Emplatos are not returned within the 14-day free loan period, 10 euros per bowl and 4 euros per cup will automatically be debited from your deposited payment method. The Emplato is then yours and can be used privately. A refill is no longer possible, otherwise it would become our property again.

Where can I return my borrowed containers?

For now, to the same restaurant from which you took it. We are working on it, so that you can return it to every restaurant partner of Emplato.

Does the container have to be rinsed before being returned?

Please rinse your Emplato before you put them back into circulation. This will save your favorite restaurant a lot of work. Of course, all partners wash the containers in their industrial dishwashers before handing them out, so that they are always hygienically clean when you check them out.

Can I use Emplato App through delivery services?

We are working on it, so soon will be possible and we will give you all the needed informations.

How long is the free loan period and can I extend it?

You have 14 days to return our Emplato to one of our partners. You can also extend the return period by one week for one euro, if the period should not be enough for you.

How do I know when to return the containers?

You will see in the Emplato app how many more days you can rent the Emplato for free. We will also remind you via email and push notifications when you have to return your Emplato, if you have allowed us to send you these notifications. You can find them in the app under "Profile" (bottom right button) and "History".

I missed my return deadline - can I still return the container?

At the end of the 14-day free return period, 10 Euros for Emplato Bowls and 4 Euros for Emplato Cups will automatically be debited from your deposited payment method. You have then purchased the Emplato containers and can use them privately.

Are the containers dishwasher and microwave safe?

Our Emplatos are all dishwasher safe, they can be washed in any standard household dishwasher and also in industrial dishwashers at very high temperatures. In addition, all Emplato containers are suitable for heating in the microwave, whereas the lid must NOT be placed in the microwave, as pressure can build up underneath due to heating.

Are the containers microwaveable?

How is it ensured that the containers are hygienically cleaned before dispensing?

Our partners are contractually obliged to wash all Emplatos by machine before serving so that they are hygienically clean. The same rules apply as for washing dishes for consumption in the restaurant.

How are the Emplatos disposed of and dismantled?

When you can no longer use an Emplato reusable container, we take it back to recycle it in a controlled way. To do this, our containers are crushed and melted down to form other products. In this way, our system remains circular and we completely avoid the creation of waste.

How long is the life of an Emplato?

An Emplato can be reused up to 300 times if used properly. The most important factor is not rinsing, but how the customer treats the container. We, therefore, ask our customers to use them adequately in order to ensure the longest possible usability and thus a lot of saved disposable packaging waste. From ten fillings, they are more environmentally friendly than disposable packaging and save up to 30 kg of CO2 over the life cycle compared to disposable packaging made of Styrofoam or aluminum.

How do I return a container with a damaged QR code?

Emplato with damaged or missing QR code can be returned normally to our partners. However, please send us an email so that we know where you returned the Emplato, and we will manually remove it from our books. The restaurant then only has to return the Emplato to us so that it gets a new QR code.

What do I do if I break a bowl or cup?

If the bowl or cup is completely broken, then you don't need to do anything else - the money will be automatically deducted from the payment method you deposited after the expiration of the loan period.
